About Spilling the Ink
Hello! I’m Melissa Fu and I created Spilling the Ink because I wanted to bring together my loves of writing, teaching, and community.
Initially, I put up posters on trees and telephone poles around my village inviting people to join me in a Writing Circle at a local village hall. It was wonderful to see these groups of writers come together from all walks of life. We grew a community around laughter, coffee, writing, and sharing.
Leading these initial Writing Circles was so rewarding that in 2016, I expanded Spilling the Ink to include online programmes and individual coaching in addition to local courses.
I grew up in the southern Rockies, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. I've lived on both the US coasts, in the Midwest, and in Texas. Currently, I live in Cambridgeshire, UK.
My literary agent is Clare Alexander of Aitken Alexander Associates.
A Writing Circle is a small group of writers who meet to write, read, and respond. Whether in person or online, we nurture a community through creating and listening.
My writing has been published in various journals and anthologies including Bare Fiction, International Literature Showcase, and the Lonely Crowd. In 2018-2019, I was delighted to be the David T K Wong Fellow at the University of East Anglia.
